Poisonous Plants and Your Pets

Plants can add the finishing touches to any homes, but if you have pets, those beautiful plants could pose a serious threat to your animal’s health or may even cause death.

Listed below are some plants known to be poisonous to your pet and should be avoided. In some cases just parts of the plant are poisonous (leaves, seeds, berries, etc.), but in general, this list rules out the entire plant. If you have any of these plants in or around you home, keep them safely out of reach.

Symptoms of poisoning may included hyper-salivation (excessive salivation), vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, trembling, convulsions, or paralysis. If any of these symptoms occur, contact ASPCA National Animal Poison Control 24 hours per day at (888) 426-4435, (there is a fee for consultation) they will consult with you and let you know which course of action to take.
